The “El Baúl Stele” is a strange sculpture found during some excavations at the archaeological site of El Baul, located in Guatemala.
It was made by the ancient Mayans and, according to proponents of the Ancient Astronaut Theory, is one of the most important archaeological clues that would indicate the presence of some space traveler in the remote past of Mesoamerica.
The sculpture on this stele shows an intriguing scene: a strange humanoid figure in front of another who appears to be crouching and in both hands the figures carry spheres.
The most interesting part of this sculpture is the head of the main character, who seems to be wearing a kind of helmet from which a type of flame comes out. Interestingly, the tube that comes out of the helmet and ends in a box at the back of the figure resembles the classic breathing tube of any spacesuit, according to a modern interpretation.
Traditional archaeology seems to have another explanation about the characters portrayed in this scene, according to archaeologists, they would actually be two players of one of the sports practiced by the Mayans, and their clothing would be some kind of body protection similar to that of current players, with a mask representing a jaguar and the objects in their hands would simply be the game balls.
