Over the years, some astronauts have reported stories of flying saucer sightings and contacts with aliens.
These are some of the main statements in this regard coming from people who have actually been in space.
Astronaut Edgar Mitchell

NASA astronaut Edgar Mitchell was the sixth human being to set foot on the surface of the Moon during the Apollo 14 mission in 1971.
After retiring, he dedicated his life to the unconventional scientific study of extraterrestrial life and shortly before he died in February 2016, he surprised public opinion when, in an interview with the British newspaper Mirror, he claimed that aliens had visited Earth during the Cold War.
“Aliens tried to prevent war, helping to create peace on Earth,” Mitchell said.
Astronaut Gordon Cooper

Gordon Cooper was one of seven astronauts who have been part of the NASA team since the space agency’s first project, the Mercury Program, which began in 1958.
Throughout his extensive career he claimed to have seen flying saucers on several occasions and, in 1978, during a UN conference on UFOs, attended by Dr. J. Allen Hynek, from Project Blue Book and astronomer and ufologist Jacques Vallee , Gordon Cooper sent the following message:
“Dear Ambassador Griffith:
I wanted to convey to you my views on our extraterrestrial visitors popularly called “UFOs”, and suggest what can be done to properly deal with them.
I believe that these extraterrestrial vehicles and their crews are visiting this planet from other planets, which are obviously a little more technically advanced than we are here on Earth. I feel we need to have a high-level coordinated program to collect and scientifically analyze data from around the world about any type of encounter and determine the best way to interact with these visitors in a friendly manner. We must first show them that we have learned to solve our problems through peaceful means rather than war before we are accepted as fully qualified universal team members. This acceptance would have tremendous possibilities for advancing our world in all areas. Certainly, then, it appears that the UN has an interest in dealing with this matter appropriately and expeditiously.
I should point out that I am not an experienced professional UFO researcher. I have not yet had the privilege of flying a UFO, nor of meeting the crew of one. I feel like I’m somewhat qualified to discuss them, as I’ve been on the margins of the vast areas they travel. Furthermore, I had occasion in 1951 to have two days of observation of many flights of them, of different sizes, flying in fighter formation, generally from east to west over Europe. They were at a higher altitude than we could reach with our fighters at the time.
I would also like to point out that most astronauts are very reluctant to discuss UFOs due to the large number of people who have indiscriminately sold false stories and forged documents abusing their names and reputations without hesitation. Those few astronauts who continued to take part in the UFO field had to do so with great caution. There are several of us who believe in UFOs and who have had the opportunity to see a UFO on the ground, or from an airplane. There has been at least one occurrence in space that may have been a UFO.
If the UN agrees to pursue this project, and give it credibility, perhaps many more well-qualified people will agree to step forward and provide help and information.
I look forward to seeing you soon.
Sincerely,
Gordon Cooper”
Astronaut Deke Slayton

Astronaut Deke Slayton was also a member of NASA’s Mercury Program and stated in a report that he had sighted a white disc-shaped object in 1951 that was flying 10,000 feet high in the Minnesota sky while he was making a flight. test with an F-51 fighter.
“It looked like a flying saucer at a 45-degree angle. I didn’t have cameras, otherwise I would have taken some photos. At that time, for whatever reason, the object just took off, accelerated and disappeared,” Slayton said.
Astronaut Helen Sharman

Helen Sharman made history in 1991 when she became the first British woman in space. Additionally, she was the first woman to visit the Russian MIR space station.
In 2020, the astronaut returned to the headlines when she stated that aliens exist and that they could be on Earth.
“Aliens exist, there is no doubt. Among billions of stars there are all kinds of different life forms,” said Sharman in an interview with Observer Magazine.
